Diet Coke And Heartburn

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. QUESTION:
Diet coke and heartburn - Some say it helps sooth it, others say it causes it?
I've recently come off a 6-week course of Omeprazole (Proton Pump Inhibitors) and am now getting pretty bad heartburn/acid reflux. Have taken Ranitidine but it doesn't seem to do anything and a friend suggested drinking flat Diet Coke to help shift it. This seems to help, but I'm worried it may make the problem worse in the long term. Any suggestions?

    • ANSWER:
this is what coke was originally invented for oddly enough drink away :) )

  2. QUESTION:
Does anybody know how to stop drinking diet coke?
I have been drinking about one liter of diet coke every day for the last two years. I not addicted to other stuff like crisps, chocolate and sweets. Im 19 years old and I don't drink or smoke. The only think that I am addicted to is diet coke. What would be the health affects if I continue drinking diet coke, I have had to get four fillings done since I started drinking diet coke and I get heartburn after drinking diet coke. What should I do?

    • ANSWER:
Slowly ease off. If you drink it consistently, you will get caffeine headaches from withdrawal. It's an addition just like anything else.

I've been fighting the caffeine fight for a long time. It's just a matter of grabbing water instead of soda, and to take water with you everywhere. If you aren't thirsty, you won't have an urge to grab a coke. I'm the most successful when I have bottled water at home to grab and go.

  3. QUESTION:
Can I drink Diet Coke when I have type 2 Diabetes?
Nuff said. I've cut out Alcohol , Smoking, Juices, Sugars, junk food etc from my diet. I'm desparate to get a little normalcy - enough to just drink Diet Coke or Coke Zero perhaps? Is this safe for Type 2 diabetes? If yes - then in what amounts?

    • ANSWER:
lmao. Soda is the LAST thing you should have if you have diabetes.

Try sparking flavored water, if anything.

      EDIT:

      If you're not convinced..

Statistics shows that Americans drink more soda than ever before. They account for more than 25 percent of all drinks consumed in the United States. More than 15 billion gallons were sold in 2000 -- about one 12-ounce can per day for every man, woman and child.

But here’s some information that may keep you away from opening the can:

      1. Extra pounds

Soda is a significant contributor to obesity. Drinking a single can a day of sugary drinks translates to more than a pound of weight gain every month. And diet soda is just as likely to cause weight gain as regular, or even more -- it may sound counterintuitive, but people who drink diet soft drinks actually don’t lose weight. Artificial sweeteners induce a whole set of physiologic and hormonal responses that actually make you gain weight.

      2. Liver damage

Soda damages your liver. Consumption of too many soft drinks puts you under increased risk for liver cirrhosis similar to the increased risk faced by chronic alcoholics.

      3. Tooth decay

Soda dissolves tooth enamel. Soft drinks are responsible for doubling or tripling the incidence of tooth decay. Soda's acidity is even worse for teeth than the solid sugar found in candy.

      4. Kidney stones and chronic kidney disease

Colas of all kinds are well known for their high phosphoric acid content, a substance that changes the urine in a way that promotes kidney stone formation. Drinking one quart (less than three 12-ounce cans) of soda per week may increase your risk of developing kidney stones by 15 percent.

      5. Diabetes

Anything that promotes weight gain increases the risk of diabetes. Drinking soda also stresses your body's ability to process sugar. Some scientists now suspect that this may explain why the number of Americans with type 2 diabetes has tripled from 6.6 million in 1980 to 20.8 million today.

      6. Heartburn & acid reflux

Heavy consumption of soda is a strong predictor of heartburn. Many carbonated beverages are very acidic. They also deliver a lot of air in the form of carbon dioxide, which can cause distension of your stomach. And that distension appears to be associated with more reflux.

      7. Soft drinks = Soft Bones = Osteoporosis

Soft drinks containing phosphoric acid are definitely linked to osteoporosis (a weakening of your skeletal structure) because they lead to lower calcium levels and higher phosphate levels in your blood. When phosphate levels are high and calcium levels are low, calcium is pulled out of your bones.

      8. Hypertension (high blood pressure)

Experts have reasons to believe that overconsumption of soda leads to an increase in blood pressure. It doesn't matter if the soda is regular or diet.

      9. Heart disease

Heavy soda drinkers are more likely to develop risk factors for heart disease. Research shows that drinking more than one soft drink a day is associated with an increased risk of developing metabolic syndrome -- a group of symptoms such as central obesity, elevated blood pressure, elevated fasting blood sugar, elevated fasting triglycerides, and low levels of HDL or "good" cholesterol. Having three or more of the symptoms increases your risk of developing diabetes and cardiovascular disease.

      10. Impaired digestion (gastrointestinal distress)

Gastrointestinal distress includes increased stomach acid levels requiring acid inhibitors, and moderate to severe gastric inflammation with possible stomach lining erosion. Drinking sodas, especially on an empty stomach, can upset the fragile acid-alkaline balance of your stomach and other gastric lining, creating a continuous acid environment. This prolonged acid environment can lead to inflammation of your stomach and duodenal lining.

  4. QUESTION:
What would happen if I drank diet coke and swallowed mentos?
I was just thinking about what would happen and if its bad for you. Would it react and explode or do nothing?

    • ANSWER:
You might get a stomach ache or have a gag reflex, probably have heartburn. You won't explode lol :) maybe if you threw in pop rocks on top of it all... haha

  5. QUESTION:
is diet coke bad for you?
if it is, what does it do and what can it cause?

p.s. i hate diet coke, but my friend has to have it all the time...eww!

    • ANSWER:
Cola, whether diet are regular are linked to osteoporosis in adults and teens as well as weakening your teeth.

      In an article in
      http://www.mindconnection.com/library/health/skinhealth.htm,
we learn that carbonation can break down calcium in the human body,
which can be a risk to weak tooth structure and in severe cases lead
      to osteoporosis.
In her article “Natural Remedies for Heartburn”, Alli Parker explains
other risks involving carbonation including esophagus irritation leading
      to bloating or indigestion.

I have severe memory loss from Nutra-Sweet which is in Diet Coke. I can not even count to ten after drinking a can of diet pop. It also triggers my migraines. I would avoid it at all cost.

  6. QUESTION:
How can I get rid of my heartburn?
Im 36 weeks pregnant and I have horrible heart burn. I want to cry.
What can I do to make it go away?

    • ANSWER:
Do not drink acidic drinks at all.
Heartburn is caused by the body eating something it doesn't agree with, so it makes acid to rid of it. Take into account what this food may have been and stop eating it.

Coke (not diet) is very good for heartburn, but drink a glass down in one gulp rather than over an hour or so. Try the real coca cola.

And also take some heartburn tab's such as Pepcid. But seeing as your pregnant read the back first.

I know this is extreme but heartburn also feels like a heart attack pain. I knew a perfectly healthy person who complained of heartburn and 10 minutes later she died.
Please see your doctor if nothing helps in the next 24 hours
      Good Luck

  7. QUESTION:
What things should you be aware of during pregnancy?
I would like to know key things that you should be aware of during pregnancy
    thanks :)

    • ANSWER:
      Well there's the obvious ones, like;
-It's not healthy or safe to smoke and drink during pregnancy, so give up if you can or only do it in moderation.
-No heavy lifting, or hard exercise, take it easy as it could be harmful to your baby.
-Your immune system is less active during pregnancy so you may get ill more, but don't take any medication without asking your doctor first, apart from paracetamol or ibuprofen as they are both fine.
-You will put on weight, but as long as it's not too fast, it's perfectly normal.
-You may not show much, or may show a lot more and EVERYONE will comment on this. Unless you are carrying perfectly averagely, people will go ''Oh! You look so much bigger than 20 weeks!'' or ''30 weeks? No, you look more like 16/17 weeks to me.'' And it WILL get annoying.

      Some things I didn't know:
-Caffeine although is not advised during pregnancy is fine. I have had multiple cans of coke, and cups of coffee and I am absolutely fine at 38 weeks pregnant.
-Everyone says you have to change your diet and be super super healthy, but as long as you're not packing on the pounds, or losing weight you can eat whatever you want within limits.
-Prenatal vitamins are not essential. I did not take any, and my baby is fine. They don't help the baby at all, they help YOU, as baby will take everything he or she needs from your body, and it's only then if you're left with a deficiency that you need to take supplements, like iron tablets etc.
-Soft cheese isn't good for pregnancy. Nor is rare seafood, uncooked meat, or processed cheeses. You should stay away from them.
-Pregnancy will be hell on your body. You will get back pains, and cramps, and nausea, and heartburn, and constipation/diarrhea, and increased discharge, and swollen breasts that leak milk all over your bedding or nice new bra.
-You don't get stretch marks JUST on your tummy. I have no stretch marks on my tummy, I have them from the top of my hips ALL the way down my bum, thighs and top of my legs. They are disgusting when there, but they happen, whether you put on weight or not.
-Every single woman you talk to, whether she has had a child or not will try and give you advice and tell you what to do. At first, this will be welcomed by you. But after 20 weeks of it it starts to get a little old. -.-
-Every step of the way, you will worry like mad. Every thing that could go wrong with pregnancy, you will be convinced at one point it's happening to you. Pre-eclampsia, stillbirth, every time baby stops moving you will worry, but every time baby moves you will feel like complaining that they are moving too much..
-You don't need millions of baby clothes, just stock up on nappies, they will come in SO handy when in the first week you're both too tired to go out and get any yourselves, having a mountain of nappies will make everything easier. This goes for wipes, talc, baby shampoo etc as well. Instead of walking through a shop with baby things and picking out random outfits every time you go in, try and pick up a pack of nappies, and some wipes. :)
-The last 4 weeks, will be the slowest time if your LIFE. ever. :P

      Good luck,

  8. QUESTION:
will an ulcer heal to where i can drink alcohol like i did before?
ive had an ulcer for about 2 months and ive been doing good by taking medicine "nexium" and not drinking alcohol and i think my ulcer has been doing better. im afraid to drink alcohol still. will my ulcer heal? and will i ever be able to drink alcohol again like i did before?

    • ANSWER:
The medication you are on is allowing the ulcer to heal and treating the symptom not the cause you need to find out why you have the ulcer in the first place sometimes helicobactor pylori is the culprit this is a bacteria treated with antibiotics. Until you find out why you have it you need to lay off alchol it will only put stress on your immune system which you need to be in ship shape to fight the invader.

If you have no luck with your doctor do lots of research on the web maybe your gut flora is out (if you have helicobator it will be) in that case PROBOTICS will help but not until your ulcer has healed if you have been taking antibiotics you need probiotics because of the damage to your flora.
Help yourself do lots of research on the web and make sure you have a healthy diet no coke or junk food your immune system needs all the help it can get. And remember Doctors don't Always know all the answers i had to cure my own reflux as i hated being on medication.go to www.earthclinic and look at heartburn it worked for me but only when i cut out junk. Hope this helps.

  9. QUESTION:
What would happen if I took all three dietary pills together?
I want to know what would happen to my body if I took my Vitamin tablets, Omega 3 tablets and Super enzyme tablets together? Would it be extremely bad for my body due to hypervitaminosis or too much concentration?
Death is too far fetched but are there any other serious threats?
    Thanks in advance

    • ANSWER:
(Here’s the end of my answer...)

Vitamins (and minerals) are good for you but too much of a good thing can become a bad thing.

Death, being the toxicity symptom of excessive intake of vitamins usually only applies to iron and only when popping iron supplements or multi-vitamins containing iron, like they’re candies, by unsupervised kids who got access to vitamins that are not in child proof containers and mistook them for candies.
If you ask me, vitamins supplements containing iron should be in child proof containers. Other multi-vitamins pills should not contain iron. Nobody who’s eating a healthy diet needs iron supplements (one cup of beans or half a cup of prune juice would cover half of my daily need). I do not eat cereals but that would cover twice my daily need...just for breakfast!
Iron supplement should be separate and prescribed by a doctor, like for pregnant women (who would better hide their stash from their other kids).

Depending on which specific vitamins to which you’re referring, toxicity symptoms can give you annoying headaches (A, D), nausea and/or vomiting (A, Selenium, Zinc), heartburn, diarrhea (B5, C, Selenium), intestinal irritation (Selenium, Zinc), loss of appetite (A, D), joint pain (A), dry skin/hair + cracked lips (A), skin rash, vascular dilatation (= red face...Niacin), irritability (Selenium), fatigue/weakness (D, Selenium), numbness (B6), water retention (B5, Sodium), high blood pressure (Sodium), hair loss (A), weakened immune system (Zinc) and really more than annoying kidney stone (C, Calcium), ulcers (Niacin), liver damage (A, Niacin), congestive heart failure and cardiac arrest (Potassium)…and this is nothing compared to what they can do when combined with drugs and medicines.

Some high dose of vitamins are not that bad, like vitamin E (you need separate supplements to get some benefits as you would never be able to get enough from the food), but then it interferes with vitamin K (blood-clotting) so should only be prescribed by a doctor (even if you buy them OTC). Then do not be surprised if you don’t clot that fast when you cut yourself...and stop taking them 2 weeks before surgery.

ALWAYS have the complete list of all the vitamin supplements (+ meds and drugs) you take ON YOU AT ALL TIME, so if you get into an accident and end up in the hospital, they will know what medicine NOT to give you so some vitamin does not interfere with it in a way that you can see your story later on the TV show House, MD!

Just having a regular check up with your doctor, or because you’re sick and they will want to know exactly which vitamins you take and also exactly which dosage and when…as to not prescribe you the wrong medicine. You’ll have to fill out a form and don’t forget to list any vitamins you take or you won’t be able to sue them if you get a bad reaction from some drugs they gave you, because you did not list that particular vitamin you took.

You have a lot of huge, big hundreds of pages books, devoted to vitamins, herbs and drugs interaction, maybe buy one of those.

Every years, kids die because they overdosed on vitamin supplements that they found in the kitchen or in their baby sitter’s purse and they thought were candies (some are sugary coated and taste good). I have a calcium supplement (when I run out of milk) that is pink, sweet and tastes like a hard nice candy that lasts for a long time, yummy. Make sure your vitamins are 100% inaccessible from any kids in your house.

What are the toxicity symptoms of iron? Death!
Kids mostly die because they accidentally have access to illegal drugs that were not in child proof pharmaceutical containers (coke-head parents tend to kill their kids that way).
The problem is that people, who live a healthy life, do not think that vitamins containing iron can kill a child if s/he takes excessive intake, eating them like they were candies (unsupervised kids often get into shenanigans).

On the bright side, deficiency symptoms are worse than toxicity symptoms (except in the case of iron which causes death).
Deficiency symptoms cause night blindness, xerophthalmia, hyperkeratosis, depression, beriberi, Wernicke-Korsakoff syndrome (mental confusion, amnesia, muscular incoordination), hypochondria, burning and itching of the eyes, sensitivity to light, infertility, anemia, epilepsy, dermatitis, anorexia, glossitis, scurvy, bruises, rickets, osteomalacia, osteoporosis, impaired growth, damage to the brain and spinal cord, constipation, caries (lack of fluoride), mental retardation, enlargement of the thyroid gland (goiter), abnormalities in heart rhythm, coma, pellagra (dermatitis, diarrhea an dementia), bone loss and pain, drowsiness and irrational behavior, cardiomyopathy, muscular discomfort and cramps...

When you know all that, you just want to eat a healthy, balanced diet.

  10. QUESTION:
How do I throw up (Im not bulimic, i have a weak stomach system and sometimes it doesnt fully digest food.?
My stomach system is weak and occasionally does not digest food properly. I also get the stomach flu at least 1 every 2 months. It is very uncomfortable and it feels like im going to die and yes I have talked to the doctor about it and there is nothing they can really do about this because this is not classified as "serious". Occasionally I throw up and I always feel better right after. So how can i induce vomiting. And please do not say use your finger I have already tried that.

    • ANSWER:
A weak stomach means that your stomach can not tolerate certain foods. Could be you are eating too much at one time and/or eating the wrong food. Try changing your diet, eat small amounts a couple times a day (no processed foods, no fast foods, cokes, etc...). Could also be you have acid reflux (heart burn), not a big deal. Try OTC heartburn meds (Pepcid, Tagament..etc.....).

  11. QUESTION:
Is drinking coke everyday bad for health?
Is drinking coke everyday bad for health? By the way I usually drink two cans a day.

I am seriously thinking of stopping coke, apprehensive of diabetes.

    • ANSWER:
Yes, it is. Diet or regular, any soda is bad for you on a daily basis. The sugar can rot your teeth and lead to weight gain and other health problems, like you said, diabetes. If you stop now the effects can virtually be reversed by your body's natural flushing of its system within months. Also, diet soda contains aspartame, which allegedly can cause liver cancer (ONLY in high amounts, don't worry, you don't have cancer.) Soda can irritate the esophagus and trigger heartburn, also.

  12. QUESTION:
28 weeks pregnant and cant breathe or eat?

Also i feel sick a lot of the time and have absolutely no appetite. Today ive had a can of coke and a pear and i feel like being sick. Just having a rant. Anyone else similar stage and feel bad or ok?

    • ANSWER:
I am 21 weeks and I still have BAD morning sickness. I can only eat things that are dry and do not have any kind of fat or oil in it (this baby has me on a diet!) I have horrible heartburn all the time (i take zantac for it because my doctor recommeded it-it doesnt work) and I am constantly exhausted. If I eat a few crackers and some dry cerial in a day, I have been pigging out! Out of my last 2 children, this is the worse pregnancy ever. I am considering getting my tubes tied now.

  13. QUESTION:
HEARTBURN IN PREGNANCY! I am 6mth pregnant with my second child and through my pregnancy have suffered with,
heartburn. But lately it seems to be getting really bad. My doctor is prescribing gaviscon, but lately it is having little effect. Can anyone offer any advice or suggestions on what i can do???

    • ANSWER:
I've started eating even smaller meals and definitely AVOID laying down after you eat... plus, I had to lay off my diet coke with dinner :( I'm still trying out different things because it's not completely gone... but, those couple of things seem to be easing it A LOT!!! Good luck and hang in there!

  14. QUESTION:
Why does Diet Coke or Diet Pepsi give me heartburn and regular doesnt?

    • ANSWER:
      Cuz diet soda is toxic.

  15. QUESTION:
Anyone else hate the new 7up?
I know the add says it's all natural, but this stuff taste like horse pee, and gives me a heartburn. Many mixed drinks that were made with 7up, and were very good, but now leave an after taste in your mouth, and just don't taste good. I don't know what they did to it, but I did send them an email about it. If enough people get together and email them, then maybe they will get the message that changing directions in the middle of the stream is a very bad and stupid idea. Coke had to learn this the hard way before they woke up and put it back like it was. Almost bankrupted the company huh?

    • ANSWER:
I thought the diet cherry 7up would taste better...NOPE!!! I have just about a whole 12 pack left in my pantry. I hate to waste it but I will eventually throw it away. It's one of the worst sodas I have ever tried.

  16. QUESTION:
how much damage am i doing to myself i drink a litre off diet coke a day how bad is this or me?

i am addicted on weight watchers it was my saviour ow cant live with out it i also drink two litre water

    • ANSWER:
The main problem is the amount of caffeine you are consuming, and it sounds as though you have become addicted to it.
If you consume caffeine in high amounts you may develop high blood pressure, palpitations, anxiety, sleep problems, nervousness, irritability, increased urination and increased thirst, indigestion and heartburn and peptic ulcers.
Caffeine also impairs memory and learning and over time will have a deleterious effect on your liver as it fights to clear the toxins. Caffeine is also blamed as a cause of cellulite.
If you want to reduce your caffeine intake, do it slowly so you do not shock your body too much.
Also, the carbon dioxide in the coke (which creates the fizz) erodes tooth enamel and isn't good for your stomach either.
If you need a fizzy drink in particular to stave off food cravings, try one that doesn't contain caffeine. You could also try drinking more tea (the heat helps make you feel more full) or fruit juice which will give you a bit of energy to keep going without a snack.

  17. QUESTION:
    Heartburn after gallbladder removal?
I had my gallbladder removed 2 weeks ago and I have been experiencing heartburn ever since. I never got it beforehand, is this normal??
    apple cider vinegar? ewww.

    • ANSWER:
Yes normal. I had mine out years ago. It does settle down. But you need to avoid really spicey or high fat meals for awhile. Also, beets can cause a lot of pain as well as drinking Coke. Those things I found out by surprise unfortunately. Additionally, you may find that you will suddenly get diarrhea unexpectedly if you miss a meal and then eat heavily or eat too much fat in your diet. It took about a year for things to get 'back to normal' for me.

  18. QUESTION:
    When will this heartburn stop?
The other night (like an idiot) I drank alot of Captain Morgan and Diet Coke with lime. I woke up in the middle of the night with heartburn and a feeling like something was stuck in my throat. After I woke up that morning it went away. That night I had Lasagna with meatballs and sauce, and it came back. Now its the next day and I still have the burning and stuck food sensation. I've been eating tums which helps a little, but anything I swallow irritates it right away. I'm 45 and I don't drink like that. I feel like I did some damage or am I just getting old! Any suggestions???

    • ANSWER:
Yes!!!! See a doctor asap. This could be a serious or not so serious condition causing your heartburn. People on this site do NOT know you OR your medical history. Your doctor does. Seek professional advice from a doctor, not amateurs on this site.

      Chow!!

  19. QUESTION:
    Diet coke??!!?
Okay so in the last few years my weight has skyrocketed, im only 17 and had a beautiful bosy up until i was 15ish then i just packed on the pounds, I wouldnt complain if it was due to my eating habits but i eat practically the same.
The only difference was that i started becoming addicted to Diet coke.
Would this have caused the major weight gain. Im talking drinking it every day, i even have a can sitting right in front of me as i type!
So if i cut it out entirely would it make a difference?

    • ANSWER:
There might be some truth in the one guy's e-mail. However, I suspect that it is one of the emails that is constantly forwarded and may not hold much merit.

I do not drink conventional soda as it is not natural. Occasionally, I'll have an all-natural root beer or ginger ale. I buy the Whole Foods grocery store brand, but before finding those, I would buy Hansen's. Those are good. The other evening, my husband and I had root beer floats with soy ice cream and the natural root beer. I could have used more soy cream, but over all it was quite yummy.

If there is a correlation between soda drinking and weight size... I'm six feet tall, 155. It seems as though everybody I know who drinks soda (including my husband) could stand to lose a few pounds. I also know people who drink more soda than water and wonder why they have health problems. (They also eat other things that I wouldn't consider food, too.)

Part of your weight gain might have just stemmed from puberty. It happened to me. Also, when I was in high school, I was big because I did eat a lot of junk. (I'm now for real food in schools, but that's an issue I will really take on when my eight month old daughter is in school.)

Weaning from soda isn't easy. I used to have two or three diet colas (I did not have a brand preference, whatever was cheapest/on sale) a day before I knew I was pregnant. I immediately went to maybe three a week to none, except for the real ginger ale for my heartburn. (I think I lived on Tums the last month or so.) I did it for my baby. (Cutting back on coffee was harder.)

Anyway, I also on rare occasions have a Diet Sierra Mist or other diet lemon lime. One thing that I've noticed about Diet Coke is that there are two or three listings of acid in it. Ick. That's enough to not want to drink any more. Actually, I think it's too sweet now. My husband still drinks soda (gee, think of the money we'd save if he didn't buy it any more...) and I took a sip of his flavored Diet Doctor Pepper yesterday and it wasn't good. (My tummy wasn't feeling well and I thought the carbonation would help me belch and help my tummy. This is not a method I try in public, of course.)

Anyway, I hope the following article will also be of some help.

  20. QUESTION:
Does both diet coke and cocacola zero cause cancer and if so what else do they cause?

    • ANSWER:

and by the way, collegeqtchick06 are you looking for a PR job with cocacola or one of the cigarette companies!????? LOL

  21. QUESTION:
    Vitamin combination question?
I used to take a multivitamin, but now I have been taking 1200mg of calcium and vitamin D daily because I am a runner and my bones crack a lot while doing so. However, I'd also like to take a capsule of vitamin E for circulatory health and another capsule of flaxseed oil. Is this too much? Any insights are greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

Deficiency symptoms cause night blindness, xerophthalmia, hyperkeratosis, depression, beriberi, Wernicke-Korsakoff syndrome (mental confusion, amnesia, muscular in-coordination), hypochondria, burning and itching of the eyes, sensitivity to light, infertility, anemia, epilepsy, dermatitis, anorexia, glossitis, scurvy, bruises, rickets, osteomalacia, osteoporosis, impaired growth, damage to the brain and spinal cord, constipation, caries (lack of fluoride), mental retardation, enlargement of the thyroid gland (goiter), abnormalities in heart rhythm, coma, pellagra (dermatitis, diarrhea an dementia), bone loss and pain, drowsiness and irrational behavior, cardiomyopathy, muscular discomfort and cramps...

When you know all that, you just want to eat a healthy, balanced diet.

  22. QUESTION:
how do you make a pressure bomb with no baking soda and viniger

    • ANSWER:
      but do it outdoors.

get Diet coke bottle (with diet coke inside) and put a peppermint mentos inside!

      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diet_Coke_and_Mentos_eruption
      ^ there's some info.

if you wanna see what happens first, just search mentos coke on youtube. there's one where these guys left the lid on....oh..that wasn't pretty. lol.

I think there's also those white things people take for heartburn or something...and you put it in water in one of those old plastic film cases (for camera film) and close the lid then put on the ground. Or you pour into sealed sandwich bag then throw at someone (not me!).

      I dunno...mentos is cooler.

otherwise, you just need any reactive metal or metal carbonate, and then add it to an acid and then close it up in a container so that the hydrogen gas builds up pressure and BOOM!

  23. QUESTION:
I get heartburn ALL the time!!?
I'm 15 years old and i do not drink or smoke and never have. i would say im not over weight, but am putting on a bit of weight lately. i do eat fatty foods like takeaways and crisps alot. i get heartburn if im walking, sitting down, laying down, or bending. the only thing i drink most is pepsi, and diet coke. All of my friends say they have never had heartburn before, but i dont understand it. one of my friends is very overweight but hasnt experienced it, and im not overweight?

i also have a problem with peeing. i always have an urge to pee, maybe if i hold it in for a hour or two and i really really need to go, then i let it all out about 30/60 mins later i need to pee again, thats without drinking anything. when im at school i do not drink anything, but i tend to pee a lot. i also pee alot when im getting into bed, and trying to sleep.

could someone help with some tips or something
    Thanks

    • ANSWER:
This does sound like 2 separate and unrelated problems.

Your heartburn issue sounds like reflux, (GORD/GERD). It would also be important to exclude infection with helicobacter pylorii, the ulcer bug, your GP can do this.

Your urine problem could be a number of things including an irritable or unstable bladder, this also requires medical investigation.

  24. QUESTION:
why can't I find diet 7up in 16.9 oz. plastic bottles in my local supermarkets anymore?
I'm from the central area of new jersey

    • ANSWER:
They changed the formula for 7-up and ceased making certain sizes of it. The new formula tastes really bad, and I would bet the diet version is beyond nasty! Why they would change something that was a hit to something that isn't even worth drinking is beyond me. Once the test market is complete on the new formula, you may once again see the larger bottles, but from what I understand not many people like the new formula. I drank it for years, but refuse to drink something that taste that bad now. It may be all natural, but it now gives me heartburn, and tastes like crap. I really suspect they will either change how they are making it back, or learn the same lesson coke did when they changed their formula. Nobody would buy the crap! Be thankful you haven't paid a lot for a big bottle that you would end up pouring out, because it REALLY starts tasting bad after it has been open a day or two. Have fun!

  25. QUESTION:
Could Crystal Light Peach Iced Tea be causing my heartburn?
I drink about 48 oz of water a day and 2-3 glasses of Crystal light Peach Iced Tea. I sometimes have caffine free Diet Coke as well. I am pregnant, so I have been blaming pregnancy for the heartburn, but yesterday I did not feel like making the Iced Tea so I just drank water & had a Diet Coke. No heart burn. Then late night I made Iced Tea & had a couple ounces (I water it down too) and then 10 min later I had bad heartburn. Do you think it is the pregnancy (24 weeks) or the Iced Tea? If the Tea? What in the tea would be causing the heartburn.

    • ANSWER:
Many artificially flavored beverages contain citric acid. That can cause heartburn.

  26. QUESTION:
My friend's going to be buying the following...?
    I'm 15. NOT MY ACCOUNT.
Anyway, I'm a first time drinker, and want to go out drinking next month. Don't lecture me, this is a ONE TIME thing. Anyway, my friend's going to get shots, Malibu, Tia Maria, and vodka, which would the safest for me to drink with coke, I really want to easy it down with coke so it's safer.

    • ANSWER:
Well, everyone is different when it comes to their body's reaction to different types of alcohol. I would stay away from the tequila though. I think your best bet would be the vodka. Malibu is very very sweet, and mixed with Coke you could end up with some bad heartburn. Plus, instead of taking shots, you could just mix the vodka and coke in a glass and sip it that way. It's not bad at all, sometimes I order a vodka-diet coke when I go out drinking. If you insist on shots, just please, go slow. I'm serious, trust me on this. They WILL catch up to you. Anywy, best of luck, have fun and BE SAFE :)

    I need intelligent answers please!

    • ANSWER:
      You're salt deficient and dehydrated.

The stomach produces hydrochloric acid to break down and help process food. Normally, there is a protective mucus layer on the stomach lining that acts as a buffer between the lining and the acid. But when you don't eat enough salt and drink enough water this mucus layer breaks down, exposing the stomach lining directly to the burning effects of the stomach acid. The result is pain.

You need to prepare your stomach for the acid that will be produced. Do this by dissolving 1/8 tsp of salt on the tongue, followed by 16 oz of water (do not dissolve the salt in the water). Do this 30 minutes before you eat and again 2 - 2 1/2 hours after eating to complete the digestion process.

Doing this allows the stomach to absorb the water/salt mixture and then secrete it back out as a bicarbonate solution at the proper time.

  30. QUESTION:
    Advice needed on Condition?
    Hi,

I need some help, i found out last week that I have IBS and gallstones. I was going to the docs as I had tonsillitis and found out that a scan I had 9 months ago showed 2 gallstones of large size. I have been experiencing heartburn and bowel problems for a while along with painful discomfort on my right side of my abdomen.

I am waiting for surgery now and have completely changed my life around in a week. I have quit smoking put myself on a low fat diet and given away all food that I thought wasn't healthy. My fridge and cupboard looks like a health shop. Not a bad thing i mean I could definitely do with losing a bit of weight.

My question is tho, with everything that I have given up I don't know if I can drink with Gallstones and IBS. I didn't drink much before but now it feels like my social life is gonna crash and burn too. I spoke to my mum about it and she thinks I need to stay clear of alcohol and drink diet coke. She has had too because she is diabetic with high sugar level so she can't drink.

So can I no longer drink? I won't be able to go for an indian which me and my mates go for once a month I don't wanna tell them I can't go out for a drink with either.

Help, I'm 24 and just getting over an ex so going out with the girls was just what i need.

    Thanks

    • ANSWER:
Well done on the life style changes so far.
It would be a good idea for general health to not drink alcohol in EXCESS. Remain within the weekly recommended limits.

With regards to your IBS, avoid all provocative and fatty foods as much as possible, try including more fibre in your diet (50% of people say this is beneficial, 50% of people say this actually makes it worse) so it's trail and error. Foods such as wheat, rye, barley, dairy products, coffee (and other caffeine-rich drinks such as tea and cola), and onions can be an irritant.

Many people say there is an improvement in their condition if people they cut down from drinking a lot of alcohol, or stop smoking if they smoke. Exercise is also beneficial. Antispasmodic medicines can help your symptoms. Low dose antidepressant such as Amitriptyline may also help, it act's as a muscle smoother which can help spasm pain.

You can have the odd Indian meal, after all we all have to live! Just don't make it too much of a frequent thing with regards to your IBS. Everything in moderation.

  31. QUESTION:
Cold feeling in throat... What is it?
So for the past four days, whenever I breathe or eat or drink, I have this sensation towards the back of my throat just past the uvula that feels like a constant stream of Diet Coke is being poured down my throat, or another good analogy is that it feels very minty. I've looked online and everyone says that it's acid reflux, but I'm not sure because I've tried taking Tums and they're not helping at all, and I've had some run-ins with heartburn before and it's never been as severe or as long lasting.

If it helps, when I chew Trident Vitality White Tea gum, it's slightly soothed but not much at all..

I'm just wondering if I should be really worried about it and see a doctor immediately or if it's just a type of sore throat and it should go away on its own soon.

    Thanks for the help.

  34. QUESTION:
What is wrong with me? Back pain, breathing trouble after eating certain foods?
This happened to me the first time a few weeks ago after eating Taco Bell. I'd been eating it a lot at the time and one day, my back started to hurt really bad and it became difficult to breathe. It wasn't impossible, it just hurt and felt like my throat was swollen or something. It went away after 20-30 minutes.

I waited to have Taco Bell again for a couple weeks and then tried it again this week. This time I did not get the reaction.

Last night I had some salsa and it started again and did not go away. It is still kind of here today, but to a small degree. This is really strange because I eat spicy things all the time and there's never a problem. I'm only 20.

Maybe it is the Diet Coke I've been drinking lately? I don't know. Is this heartburn? Is it an allergic reaction? Anyone know?

    • ANSWER:
It's possible it's an allergic reaction - but it could also be a gallbladder attack. You should see your doctor to figure it out!

  35. QUESTION:
    Being sick after eating?
i felt sick this morning, i went to KFC and i didn't even feel like eating much. i ate like 4 fries and 2 pieces of popcorn chicken, and i felt really sick. i couldn't eat anymore, so i went to walk back home and i started feeling really dizzy, my vision went blurry and i just ran behind a bush and been sick.. i felt better. then i had some diet coke (the only thing i had to drink at that point) and had to run and be sick again. i don't really have an appetite for anything, i've been drinking only water and eating fruit flakes and i seem fine now.
im also really scared that if this carries on for more than a week, i will lose a lot of weight and then put more back on when i start eating, because i lost weight, i was 219 lbs now i weigh 203
pls help, what could this be? my friend said it's probably the flu or a cold, but i'm unsure. if it helps i'm 15 male

    • ANSWER:
Just saying that your stomach hurts and you feel sick doesn't give enough details as to what might be going on with you. Does your upper abdomen hurt or lower? That is, does it hurt around or below your bellybutton, or above your bellybutton, closer to your breastbone? If it's in the upper part of your abdomen, it's probably acid reflux. If it's in the lower part of your abdomen, it could be various things. The most common would be IBS, irritable bowel syndrome. It could also be a food intolerance, such as lactose intolerance, wheat/gluten intolerance, etc. Other things that can make you feel sick when you eat would be gallbladder problems, pancreas problems, gastritis, delayed gastric emptying, gastric dumping, something going on in your small intestine like Celiac's disease (a disease where your small intestine attacks itself in the presence of gluten protein), etc. Those things are all much less common than the ones I mentioned above, though. The three most likely culprits are acid reflux (heartburn), IBS, or a food intolerance. Try paying close attention to what you're eating and when you feel sick. Keep a journal of every time you feel sick, what you have or haven't eaten, what time it is, what's going on, how you feel emotionally, etc. Then write down exactly what you eat (not just a sandwich , but write down the kind of sandwich, like, a sandwich with turkey, cheese, and mayonnaise ) and how you feel after you eat. Does the pain get better? Worse? Does it change at all, like the location of the pain or how intense it is? Describe it as best as you can, and write down where exactly it hurts and what it feels like. Keep this journal for at least a week (two is better), then ask your parents to make an appointment to see your doctor. The food journal will give your doctor a good idea of what you're eating and what might be causing your pain and nausea. You might see a pattern in your own journal (for example, that every time you eat dairy or acidic foods you get sick), or the doctor might spot a pattern you missed. Either way, keeping that journal will be a good source of information to help the doctor diagnose you accurately and help you feel better. Good luck!

  36. QUESTION:
Am I having a heart Attack.?
Hello. I am a 17 year old male with a 44.3 BMI. I know im overweight and i want to change but i cant. I keep telling my self no, don't have that or that's not healthy but when my parents buy candy and stuff for my siblings its hard to stop myself. I dont want to tell my parents i want to because the are very embarrassing and would want me to do stuff like stop playing ps3 and computer. Im not going to lie but my best friends are over the internet and i dont want to just end it so i figured if i eat healthy slowly but surely ill get better. Its hasn't been working out for me. Although when i am hungry i try to limit myself to diet coke but i end up having alot of it. Maybe 9-11 liters a week of it at most. Recently as in a few hours ago when i stood up to go help my parents move some boxes around in the attic I felt this pain in my central chest area, nothing that i had to stop moving but it was definitively noticeable. The first thing that came to mind was, im overweight, it must be a heart attack . Soon after it stopped though and it went away when i took a seat and now i cant get the pain to come back. Its gone now but I want to know what it was and if i really am having a heart attack. I dont want to tell my parents of this pain because they will over react and they will take the one thing i truly love away. I know its stupid and silly but i dont have many friends and the ones i do are all online across the globe where they honestly know more about me then my irl friends. I trust them and i know their my friends. Its wired but that's the way it is. IDK what i should do. Whats happening to me. How can I get more healthy. Is drinking this much coke extreamly bad. And if worst comes to worse am I experiencing the start of a heart attack?

    • ANSWER:
Central chest pain could be any one of a number of things, and of course your mind turns to the one that the media have high-lighted the most - heart attack in over-weight people.

If you've been drinking loads of soda or carbonated drinks the first thing that springs to mind is gas! a good old fashioned burp will probably clear that pain faster than anything. Or it could have been heartburn, acid reflux or even a pulled muscle.

Why don't you have a chat with your Doctor or local heath care giver, explain that you realize that you are over-weight and would they help you with a healthy eating plan, then talk with your parents, explain your weight issues and that they are not helping you by providing sugary snacks for your siblings, leading you into bad habits. Also ask your Mums help in devising some kind of healthy eating plan. You don't have to give up much, try to avoid saturated fats (that's the ones that come from animal products) and go for unsaturated ones (vegetable ones), snacks don't have to be sweets/ candy, why not go for dried fruit or nuts.
Try to avoid sugary drinks, even so called diet sodas have a high level of aspartame, which some people find they react to (racing pulse, sweats, and occasionally diarrhea), go for squash(cordial?) or fresh fruit juice. And remember 3 litres of water a day

If you're unused to activity the slightest thing can pull a muscle. You don't have to exert yourself to do it.
Why not try to increase the amount of exercise you take in the week. It doesn't have to be a lot to start, take a walk round the block, Next week walk faster, or take a neighbors dog for a walk.
You could try swimming - thats a good gentle exercise that works out the whole body, including the heart

Everyone experiences heart attacks differently, This pain MAY have been an early indicator that you MIGHT, possibly be heading for heart trouble. While you're talking to your doctor about healthy eating, why not ask them to have a listen. It may be the start of angina.
Heart attacks on males usually include a 'crushing' pain to the chest and/or left arm - like someones sitting on you, dizziness, sometimes a coppery taste in the mouth, weakness in the legs, and occasionally blurred vision.

      Good luck

  39. QUESTION:
    Stomach pain and heartburn?
I've suffered from heartburn everyday for the past 6 years nearly (I'm now 19). I have been on tablets for about 5 of those years everyday (lanzoprazole), the only test I have ever had done was for H.Pylori, which came back negative.

I just sorted of accepted this and assumed the doctors knew what they were doing and continued to take my heartburn medicine. I mean the tablets aren't perfect I still suffer from some heartburn, I have stomach cramps at list 70% of the time during the day and I tend to almost constantly have a 'bad tummy'. I also have to literally take my tablets everyday otherwise I get really bad heartburn that can lead to throwing up etc... But I just sorted accepted this and lived with this, because on the grand scheme of things it isn't the worst thing on the planet.

But recently I have been thinking, surely I shouldn't have to live like this and they should at least do some tests to see what is causing the heartburn :/? I mainly came on here to ask if anyone had any idea about what could be causing it?
    Other symptoms include;
Usually 3-4 'bouts of tiredness' during the day lasting anywhere from 1 minute to an hour usually where I really struggle to even keep my eyes open and I feel incredibly nauseous. I have found eating more protein and less carbs/wheat tends to lessen these. They come and go for no apparent reason.

If I get ill it usually takes me longer to recover i.e. it'll take me around 6 weeks just to get over a cold (last year it took me a record of 6.5 months to get over a chesty cough).

Eating anything with loads of wheat (wheetabix, shreddies) etc... in it makes me feel really sick and gives me bad heartburn even with my tablets. But I am alright with stuff like pasta, bread etc... but they make me feel bloated and tired.

My sister on my mums side has coeliac disease, but my mum who suffers from heartburn like I do (same symptoms etc...) has been tested and she hasn't. I have no idea if I have been tested. I am also not anaemic or diabetic (I have been tested).
I forgot to mention before that I am also pretty much constantly bloated, I stopped drinking coffee 6 months ago (and barely drink tea). I am also a vegetarian, which makes going onto specific diets a pain (especially when added to the fact I can pretty much only afford the cheapest stuff in the supermarkets at the moment), but I will try and cut stuff etc... Thank you for the advice :) .

The doctors did once mention putting a camera down my throat etc... But they said they would discuss it more next time I came for a check-up and never did so I figured I didn't need one. But considering the fact that last time I went doctors they didn't even know I was on heartburn tablets, but still thought I had a hole in my heart (something that healed over 10 years ago), I am starting to trust my doctors less and less.

What they said to my mum was that they would of sent her in for tests, but since she has had it for 30+ years it probably isn't anything dangerous so they didn't se

    • ANSWER:
Sounds very like IBS which I have and I also take the same tablets as you. You will need to look at the triggers in your diet, I find that Fibre makes it worse, have given up on shreddies but cornflakes are ok. I get bloated after eating bread, but find Cibatta better. I cannot eat any kind of spicy food, garlic or onions. defo no fizzy drinks such as coke, I put sugar in it to take out the fizz. No wine or beer. No fruit such as apples etc as they are acidic. Life is full of a bland boring diet with lots of mashed potato, but it does stop the attacks.
Keep a daily food diary, you will soon see where the problems are and AVOID.
      Good Luck

  40. QUESTION:
I don't know what to do please help?
I was a 13 stone female, 5'7 and had a bmi of 30. I tried the Atkins diet for three days and lost 3 pounds. That should be incentive enough to carry one but my mood is all over the place. In fact, I'm crying now typing this! I'm constantly tired. I've noticed too though that I didn't get heartburn on the diet. But I cannot keep going this way. I miss the cereal and the simple sandwich. I tried the diet because I needed a quick fix. All I was eating was eggs and meat = boring! I don't have a lot of money to make some of the recipes on the website. I use to eat 1500 calories a day to lose weight but I kept going over that. I hate the way I look and I am so impatient when trying new diets. Can anyone just give me some advice on something? Anything? I am at my wits end! I love my food too much!

    • ANSWER:
okay, to get into shape , speed up your metabolism, rid yourself of excess fat and lose weight ,,,,,do as follows:

Stop drinking & smoking (if you do this regularly)
eat fruits & vegetables all you can (buy a slow cooker /food steamer & rice/pasta cooker to make it easy on you)...(vegetables might not seem "tasty", like junk foods,, but can be as you aquire your taste to them..and are loaded with energy and nutrients)...avoid all junk food, cokes, sweets, etc...and drink mainly water (green tea , juice & milk being the other options you drink). If you eat meat ,,use only steamed, baking or grilled methods for preparing fish or chicken.

  41. QUESTION:
Horrible heart burn, 12 weeks ....please, please help!!?
I have had it since the very beginning and it doesn't look like it's slowing down. Anything and everything I eat causes it. Going to talk to my doctor about out but does anyone have any recommendations??? Tums just dont cut it. Please help!

    • ANSWER:
MILK try a 4-8 ounce glass of milk it worked wonders for me and if you can pin point what it is that is giving you heart burn then cut it out of your diet if you can.
some odd things that give me heartburn are:
cool aid the pre-sweetened in the plastic container
lemons and a few other acidic fruits (but not oranges) even lemon pepper seasoning gives me heartburn
      chili
      and coke, pepsi, other sodas

you get the point everyone is different but milk really helped me so try it out it cant hurt to try it and also try to figure out what exactly it is that is giving it to you

I'm taking nexium now every morning but i dont see much difference.

should i wait one more month untill i finish the n treatment or should i go to the docter now?
My parents are allways busy.So i would not wanna go for nothing.
will this ever go away : (?

    • ANSWER:
I researched this a little, as my Dad has GERD. Cutting any fried foods, coffee (even decaf) and citrus/acidic foods (Oranges, garlic, tomatoes) is the first step. One that is often overlooked is gluten, which is found in wheat. Most people who cut grains, sugar and starch from their diets no longer report GERD symptoms. Basically GERD is caused by your diet. Even when doctors say "it's caused by being overweight" that's not what you should focus on. Being overweight is also caused by diet, so treat your diet - not your weight.

  43. QUESTION:
Sick stomach for 3 days now!?
I put a questions up here yesterday about my stomach. I have been feeling sick to my stomach for the past 3 days...heartburn, nausea, butterflies, etc. I took a prego test, and negative on that, so that's not it. I now am having diahrea...so I am confused on what is going on. I am not throwing up but I feel I could at times. I need help! I am taking antacids but they aren't helping. I can't eat, sleep, etc. I am having some problems with anxeity lately but I am on pills for it so I don't think that is it...I would just like some advice

    • ANSWER:
There's a virus going around that has your exact same symptoms. It lasts from 3-5 days. Over the weekend, you should keep yourself on a BRAT diet.
      Bananas
      Rice
      Applesauce
      Toast
Sip on flat coke or ginger-ale, have a little jello, no fruit juices or dairy products. If you start feeling a bit better and the diarhhea stops, add some chicken noodle soup and crackers. If you're not feeling better by Monday, or if you can't keep anything down (or in), give your doc a call. Until then, stay warm, rest up, give your body a little break.

  44. QUESTION:
Am I healthy? Lots of coke and energy drinks, but I look fine?
I'm 16 years old, 5ft 11in, and I weigh 178 pounds. I play Running Back for my schools football team, and I'm pretty fast.

BUT, I drink 4-8 cokes a day, and around 3 energy drinks. I also drink around two cups of vinegar each day, I love the taste and the "wake-up" I get from it.

But my chest has been hurting a lot, and same with my lower sides. My chest hurts when I'm running or working out, like somethings stopping my lungs from expanding all the way. So what's up?

I dunno if I'm just paranoid from watching too much health TV or what. Anyone know?
To be honest, I can remember the last time I had some water. I just don't like the taste, and it somehow makes tired...

But I think you're right. Maybe more water.

    • ANSWER:
      TWO CUPS OF VINEGAR?!
wow! Well, that MIGHT be able to explain some of the pain- vinegar is highly acidic and can cause heartburn... and it's known to corrode stomach lining and do other not-so-good things.
Energy drinks, high in caffeine, tend to stimulate the body, spiking blood pressure (which eventually weakens the heart muscle over time)!
I would definitely change your diet, and see a doctor about those pains! Don't be freaked out or anything, you're not going to drop dead tonight or anything... (your fitness routine sounds great) and you're young, but honestly, that's kind of a horrible diet.

  45. QUESTION:
How do I escape this day-to-day 'hell'?
I'm a 29 year old male, with Crohn's Disease, Ilesotomy (Stoma / Bag), Daily Panic Attacks, Extreme Stress, Agitated-type Depression, PTSD, Hypervigilance, Hyperarousal etc

I suffer from Heartburn (GERD), Recent Kidney Stones (thanks to a diet of Vodka and Coke everyday, I suspect), Chest Pain, Hives, High Blood Pressure (150/100)
I only turned to the 'drink' to stop the extreme stress symptoms, but I feel it's now got a hold of me.

I have dark circles under my eyes, Baldness (and loss of hair on my legs!), Weight Gain around the middle, + disturbing Liver and Kidney results.

People seem to think telling me that I 'need a break' will help - but when I DO have a break (i.e a Holiday/Vacation away), I seem to take all the stress and the symptoms with me!

I've been prescribed Fluoxetine (Prozac) 20mg, but I'm scared of the Nausea & Diarrhea I might experience, what with having Crohn's Disease and an Ileostomy (bag).

I'm literally at breaking point. I don't feel suicidal - just agitated, restless, unable to sleep and like my life is going nowhere. I know WHAT I want to do with my life, but I just can't grasp it - feeling like this everyday.

Where on earth do I start? Any help is much appreciated. Thanks guys.

    • ANSWER:
Find yourself a therapist, a counselor, a psychologist, or some other mental health professional. You sound like you are falling into major depression, which is a serious health issue and requires attention and help.

In the meantime, reduce, or better yet quit, using alcohol. Undertake a regimen of moderate daily exercise -- I don't mean distance running, snowboarding, or Olympic-style weightlifing, I'm talking about taking your dog for a walk every afternoon or about twenty minutes of yoga.

Next time you see your doctor, go through all of your medications, both prescribed and OTC, to check for incompatibilities and unwanted side effects.

But mainly, you have need of mental health assistance. Please don't wait to seek out that help. Good luck to you, man.

  47. QUESTION:
Doctor doesn´t want me to gain more weight..I´m pregnant?
Well I´m pregnant only 8 weeks today:D I already gained 3 pounds! I´started at 156 and now I am at 159. So what kind of healthy diet can I do to not gain weight ? It doesn´t matter if I even lose weight since I m gonna be eating healthy!?

    Thankss!

    • ANSWER:
that sounds odd i was told that no matter how obese you are or tiny you are you need to gain a little bit but it may be because of how soon it is in your pregnancy, what i would do is ABSOLUTELY DONT DIET just eat healthy

anything green yellow or orange is good as much antioxidants as possible, v8 is good so is fruits

then protein if its meat make sure its cooked all the way absolutely no pink, but you have to have protein

lastly take prenatals your doc will get them or get them at walmart and add a multivitamin with fiber so your digestive trac does the Weight control for you, also try some floic acid it is important for the babys brain development

this is the diet i am on so i dont gain more then needed

1 cup of total(cereal it has 100% daily value of vitamins) with 1 cup of 1% milk because it isnt too fatty but fat free is pointless for the baby

then for lunch i snack on 100 cal packs some broccoli or any veggie ooh i love asparagus and i have a healthy whole wheat meat and lettuce sandwich with a glass of watter about 24 oz and then some organic juice

next for dinner i eat whatever the baby wants lol or what i crave but the good thing is i crave steemed veggies and even artichoke but to make it tasty i add a little bit of butter and pepper not too much watch out for heartburn, and then some meat COOKED THROUGH with a tasty sauce,

curve cravings by dressing up your meals with sauces that you like and good snacks like veggies and ranch and 100 cal packs, most snacks come in whole grain now a days and low sodium just browse the grocery store,

for beverages drink juice if you wanna keep a good cal count drink water try diet caffeine free sprite deliciouse and a good stomache settlerr not coke because splenda isnt so good and caffeine free coke still has a tiny bit of caffine in it,

hope this helps you good luck with your bundle of joy to be

  48. QUESTION:
    tight chest and burping?
so recently in the morning right when i wake up and at night before i go to sleep i get a tight chest and i burp alot more then normal and sometimes triggers my anxiety. what could this be and how can i take care of it?i have also been having what feels like severe heartburn in the left portion of my chest. any help would be appreciated

    • ANSWER:
You are possibly suffering from gastric reflux- stomach acid climbing up your oesophagus. Usualy becomes worse when your lying down and especially if you are eating late in the evenings. The heart burn you are feeling is the stomach acid irritating your oesophagus and inflamming it. This feeling of pain and irritation in your chest can also effect you psychologically and in more severe forms inflame the surrounding tissue close to the heart. This can give you tachycardia (increased heart rate) and also leave you feeling anxious. So couple of tips: don't eat too late before sleeping, reduce caffeine in your diet (as this can also trigger anxiety and increase heart rate) and reduce acid type foods (ie orange juice, coke etc).

  50. QUESTION:
    Having bad heartburn?
Okay, so I am a 15 year old girl. I'm very very thin, if this matters, I don't know. Anyways I have had heartburn/indigestion problems since I was about 8 years old? Yeah, it started when I was 8. I've been to doctors about it, I've even gone to the ER before because of really bad heartburn. The ER visit was probably not necessary, I was 8 and now that I think about it I was probably overreacting.

The doctors never really did anything about my heartburn problems. I've taken every anti-acid that is available OTC. I haven't taken a few of them because they said they were for adults 18 years and over. Those medication to age things are pretty much based off of what you weigh, If I was at a more reasonable weight I would feel a lot more safe taking them. Unfortunately I am not, I'm 15 and about 40lb underweight for my height. Yeah, I'm a thin kid.

But anyways the DR's wanted to do a test on me that required me to drink the vile white sludge and then lie down so they could see if it refluxed up into my throat. I was 8 and having to drink the white crap was out of the question, so I never completed the test. The doctors just gave me a prescription medicine for the heartburn. It was a black and pink capsule, I forget the name. I took it for about a month or two. They also told me not to eat a whole list of foods. I did so, and also drank tons of Coke slurpees from 7-11 because they seemed to help if my stomach hurt.

When I went to the ER they again tried to do the test, and failed. They also gave me a combination of every anti-acid liquid on the planet. It did help.

Since then I never really had a bad issue with heartburn. It's mostly garlic, citrus and tomato that flair it up. Lately I have been having a lot of problem with heartburn. I get these weird burps that burn. It's hard to explain, they burn but they feel kind of cold? I don't know, It's strange. I also get stomach aches and a burning in my lower chest. Bottom of my rib cage area. This really only happens at night. I've been taking Zantec 150 everyday, but that doesn't really help. I actually can't even eat after 3pm because that makes it a lot worse for some reason..

What can I do? My mum keeps harassing me that taking the Zantec daily is bad for me, but the heart burn is pretty bad.

    • ANSWER:
